Hi, I’m Syed, and I’m the person behind Numgram.
I’ve always felt that many things on the internet are made more complicated than they need to be.
You search for something simple. You find a website that looks promising, and then you have to deal with a lot of text, multiple buttons, pop-ups, ads, instructions, and sometimes you have to scroll quite a bit before you actually find what you came for.
I kept thinking:
Why can’t it just be simple?
If I want to know how many days are left until a particular date, just show me the answer.
If I want to know how long until a particular time, show me the answer.
I shouldn’t have to work my way through a complicated page just to get a simple piece of information.
That is where the idea for Numgram came from.
The idea behind Numgram
I want Numgram to be a website where you can come, use a tool, and get your answer without any unnecessary fuss.
The tool should be easy to understand.
The important information should be visible straight away.
And whenever possible, you shouldn’t even need to scroll to see the answer.
Of course, there will be explanations and additional information for people who want to know more. But the main purpose of the page should always be clear:
Help you get the answer you’re looking for.
Built for everyday things
I’m starting Numgram with simple date and time tools.
Things like:
- How many days until a date?
- How long until a particular time?
- How many weeks until a date?
These might seem like very small things, but they are the kind of questions people look up all the time.
A holiday you’re waiting for.
A birthday.
A trip.
An important event.
The end of the week.
Or simply wondering how much time is left until something happens.
Over time, I want Numgram to grow beyond date and time tools into a larger collection of useful everyday tools — calculators, counters, estimators, converters, checkers, solvers, finders, generators, testers and more.
But I want to keep the same idea behind all of them:
Keep it simple.
Why I’m building it
There are already a lot of websites offering calculators and online tools. I don’t expect Numgram to be the first or the biggest.
What I do want is for it to be one of the simplest and easiest to use.
I want someone to land on a Numgram page and immediately understand:
What does this tool do?
What do I need to enter?
What’s the answer?
That’s it.
No unnecessary complexity.
No making a simple question feel like hard work.
Still a work in progress
Numgram is something I’m building step by step.
There will be new tools, new pages and new ideas along the way. Some things will probably change as I learn what people find useful.
But the basic idea isn’t going to change:
Make useful tools that are simple enough for anyone to use.
If Numgram can save someone a few minutes, answer a question quickly, or simply make something a little easier, then I think it’s doing its job.
Thanks for visiting and being part of the beginning.
